Hidden Traces beyond the Horizon
The series "Hidden Traces beyond the Horizon" tells how traces can take on a new meaning.
The world is full of traces of lived life – some remain visible, others only reveal themselves through memory. "Hidden Traces Beyond the Horizon" is dedicated to the moment when we discover new meanings in these traces. The series continues the journey from "A Journey Beyond the Horizon": with each memory, our view of what lies ahead also changes.
Every picture is an invitation to reconnect with its memories - perhaps they will gain a new meaning.
In layers of oil paint and oil pastels, earlier states of the painting remain present, combining to form landscapes between perception and imagination. A hinted tableau can become the memory of a shared evening, a color fragment the starting point for one's own story. When viewed, the traces of the image meet the viewer's memories; from this, connections emerge that were previously hidden. Thus, "knowledge through memory" becomes an open movement: life becomes memory, memory becomes knowledge, knowledge shapes the future.
In "Echoes from beyond the Horizon," pink and orange lines traverse a structure of dark forms, cool blue, and luminous yellow. They can be read as paths, outlines, or connections, guiding the gaze between the image areas. Individual forms might evoke memories of trees, figures, or familiar places, without being explicitly defined.
This reveals the artistic approach pursued in the series "Hidden Traces Beyond the Horizon": the traces are already present, but their meaning unfolds in the encounter with the viewer. What is initially perceived as an abstract form can suddenly become part of one's own story. The horizon also marks the limit of what we could previously recognize. The "echoes" come from an area that only reveals itself in hints and becomes accessible through memory. Thus, the image opens up the possibility of understanding something new in existing traces – knowledge through memory.
